Live Chat Inc., as you might guess from the name, is a system for enabling visitors to your website to chat live with sales or customer service representatives. LiveChat provides an excellent feature set, with some features we haven't seen from many other services, and caters for all sizes of business. Whether you are a one man shop or an Amazon-beater you will get access to the same great features and robust infrastructure. LiveChat is a modern company with new ideas and is one of the first live chat solutions to integrate with social media.

As you can tell from the LiveChat homepage, the user interface for LiveChat is bright, colourful and easy to use. Although the LiveChat website may be a bit over the top for some people, trust us when we say that the software itself is much tamer and would suit any type of business. It's also fully customizable so you can choose a colour scheme to match your company colours. When you integrate LiveChat on your website, customers will get to see a floating button that enables them to instantly request a chat session with one of your operators. A neat feature is that the chat window will then be embedded in the page and remain even when the customer changes pages. This is different to many services which require a new browser window pop-up to work.

Operators have a wide range of choices on how to log into the system to attend to customers. A web interface is provided along with desktop clients for Windows and Mac and mobile apps for all the major platforms. The range of clients on offer make LiveChat one of the most compatible services we have seen so top marks go to them for going to all this effort. All the clients are very well designed and easy to use so operators won't require much training before they are ready to go. However, to get them up to speed you can join a chat session as a silent observer to provide advice in real time. This is a great way of training up new operators quickly and a feature not many other services can offer.

To help you make the most of every visitor, LiveChat lets users log in with their Facebook details. This means your operators have more information on the customer and helps you to build up followers for your brand. You can catch up with customers directly on Facebook with the Facebook app that is also available. Pre-chat surveys provide another great way of gaining insight into who your customers are and can really help operators drive home a sale. To help operators even further there is a neat sneak peak feature which lets them see what a customer is typing before they even hit enter. Although perhaps slightly cheeky, this is a really useful way of figuring out what your customer is really thinking.

LiveChat is a forward thinking company that is always thinking up great new features to include in its software. With such a great range of operator clients and extensive third party integration capabilities, you can be sure this isn't a service that will leave you behind the times. The plans on offer will suit any budget and you can even get a free trial that can be up and running on your site in a matter of minutes. The one slight downside of LiveChat is that the reporting functionality isn't quite as advanced as some other services, although things are always being upgraded. LiveChat earns a solid place in our top ten and we would highly recommend checking it out.
