WebsiteChat.net is a relatively simple, but good value live chat support solution. It offers a decent range of features, if not quite the full set that some more advanced products provide. However, it looks good enough for most websites and is very easy to install. What WebsiteChat.net really has going for it is the simple pricing structure which undercuts much of the competition for medium numbers of operators. If you can put up without having the most advanced features, WebsiteChat.net could be a great choice.
WebsiteChat.net is very easy to set up and install as it is a completely managed solution. Simply sign up for an account then copy and paste a few lines of code into the pages of the site you want to enable for live chat. WebsiteChat.net offers extra value as you are free to use it over as many sites as you wish. A demo on the WebsiteChat.net homepage lets you chat with one of their operators to see exactly how the service works and a free trial is available to let you see how it looks on your own site.
WebsiteChat.net offers the choice of a desktop or web-base client. Neither is the best we have seen around, but they are usable enough to get the job done. The desktop client requires Windows and is essentially just a typical instant messaging client, but this has the added benefit that you can use it to chat with any other contacts you may have. Mobile clients are also available for iPhone and Android which is a welcome addition as these aren't often included in services at this price point.
Operators have access to the full historical logs of chat sessions by logging into the online application. Although there is no tracking between visitors they can use these logs to look back on previous calls in order to answer queries more effectively. For efficiency it's also possible to use canned responses to quickly answer common questions. A noticeable gap from WebsiteChat.net's feature set is any kind of reporting functionality. We were also disappointed to see there is no capability for monitoring operators' performance or tracking customer satisfaction.
WebsiteChat.net isn't the best or most advanced live chat support product around, but it does have a very low price point which could make it attractive to small businesses. It's worth giving the free trial a shot to see if the service does everything you need it to and if so, you could save a bit of cash over some of the bigger companies' offerings.
